Out of the ether, shapeshifter fully formed: MASSEY.
Dormant powers held at bay… until today.
MASSEY steps forward: primordial preacher-shaman in black, silver pompadour blazing high, perennial shades in place. With an out-of-nowhere burst that has already crossed a million YouTube views and earned a WEA Earth Award nomination, he has declared his arrival.

With six genre-bending singles—including the high-octane new track “Bookin’”—MASSEY is shaping a catalog that refuses to sit still. His debut, the infectiously funky “(Never) 2 Hot!”, doubled as a climate action anthem, signaling from the start that this is an artist unafraid to link music with movement.
What followed was a kaleidoscope: rock grit colliding with neo-soul, grunge textures merging with hip-hop cadence, blues fire sparking alongside melodic rap. MASSEY is a true shapeshifter, channeling the ghosts of rock legends while bending genres into a future-facing vision uniquely his own.
The Man Behind the Music
MASSEY’s journey has been defined by joyful determination and bold reinvention. Once a financial coach, he transformed his calling into music, carrying with him the philosophy that persistence and imagination make anything possible. Onstage, he is a herald and a pied piper, delivering a theatrical, high-voltage performance that inspires fans and emerging artists alike.
“I’m driven to express hard truths and hidden possibilities, and to fight the good fight for wisdom, justice, climate action, and kindness. But it’s got to be funky, fun, and feel good,” MASSEY says.
Artistic Evolution
Each release reveals a new dimension: the velvet-disco grandeur of “(Never) 2 Hot” (ft. XOCHI), the late-night meditation of “3A.M. Funk,” the grungy reimagining of “Box of Rain” with Vince Herman (Leftover Salmon), and the New Orleans-soaked fever dream “Tattoo My Heart.”
During the pandemic, MASSEY wrote more than 20 songs in two years, a surge of creativity galvanized by influential new connections. That path led to legendary producer JoeBaby Michaels (Rolling Stones, James Brown, Lynyrd Skynyrd), who signed MASSEY to his boutique indie label, Bent River Records.
At Louisiana’s iconic Dockside Studio—where B.B. King, Dr. John, and Levon Helm once recorded—MASSEY tracks with master musicians Charlie Wooton (Royal Southern Brotherhood), Daniel Groover (Nas, India.Arie, Nelly), and Doug Belote (Eric Clapton, Marcus King).
Looking Forward
With performances during New Orleans Jazz Fest week and GRAMMY® after-parties already under his belt, MASSEY now readies his debut album for release through Bent River Records.
“Being a recording artist is the life I always thought possible. Now I finally have the chance to do it at a high level—and it’s only going to get weirder, funkier, and more wonderful as time goes on,” he says with a laugh.
